Glossary

Definitions of GHSTWRK terms used across the site.

A

Approval Gate

A required sign-off checkpoint before an experiment, rollout, or transition proceeds. Approval gates keep work bounded and ensure stakeholders control risk, scope, and budget.

Change ControlDecision MemoSignal Scan

B

Baseline

A measured description of the current workflow before changes are introduced. A baseline makes it possible to distinguish signal from anecdotes.

Baseline-FirstMeasurement Ledger

Baseline-First

A method principle: measure the present before changing it. Baseline-first work prevents premature scale decisions and reduces the risk of shipping improvements that cannot be verified.

BaselineReversible Experiments

C

Change Control

The process your organization uses to review, approve, and track operational or technical changes. GHSTWRK assumes change control is real and designs experiments to work inside it.

Approval GateWorkflow Instrumentation

Corporate Surface

Operating inside formal constraints such as governance, security, approvals, and procurement without breaking trust or process.

Change ControlSkunkworks

D

Decision Memo

A written recommendation at the end of a bounded phase: scale, stop, or iterate. It ties evidence to the next decision.

Measurement LedgerSignal Labs

H

Handoff

The transition from a pilot to internal ownership so the team can operate, support, and iterate without ongoing dependency.

Handoff KitHandoff SystemProgram Stewardship

Handoff Kit

The practical transfer package: runbooks, templates, routines, documentation, and governance notes intended for real operator use.

HandoffHandoff System

Handoff System

The combination of routines, documentation, roles, and checkpoints that keep a validated intervention running over time.

HandoffProgram Stewardship

I

Internal Champion

The client-side owner who carries the program after handoff and is enabled with training, documentation, and escalation paths.

Handoff SystemProgram Stewardship

M

Measurement Ledger

A living record of what was tested, how outcomes were measured, what changed, and what did not. The ledger reduces ambiguity and supports defensible decisions.

BaselineDecision MemoSignal Labs

P

Program Stewardship

Ongoing support that converts validated pilots into operating practice with clear ownership, reporting, and maintenance expectations.

Handoff SystemInternal Champion

R

Reversible Experiments

Interventions designed to be rolled back if signal does not hold. Reversibility limits blast radius and keeps options open while learning.

Change ControlSignal Labs

S

Signal Labs

A time-boxed pilot, typically 4-8 weeks, to answer one operational question and produce evidence plus a decision memo.

Measurement LedgerDecision MemoReversible Experiments

Signal Scan

A 60-minute diagnostic to map context, constraints, and success signals. The output is a scoped pilot recommendation and a clear go/no-go decision.

Approval GateSignal Labs

Skunkworks

A small, focused team that tests ideas quickly under constraints. In GHSTWRK's model, skunkworks work is paired with corporate-surface discipline so results can survive governance and scale.

Corporate SurfaceSignal Labs

W

Workflow Instrumentation

Designing adoption from the workflow instead of the vendor. Instrumentation includes mapping workflows, defining boundaries, and creating templates and runbooks operators can use.
