Context

A board-governed institution needed to work with blockchain-based digital assets, including custody planning and multiple six-figure irreversible on-chain transactions.

The work involved custody models, transaction planning, vendor recommendations, network selection, key management, finance, legal review, IT coordination, and executive understanding.

Problem

The main problem was translation. Technical specialists understood wallets, custody models, network tradeoffs, and transaction risk. Institutional stakeholders needed to understand those same issues in terms of responsibility, approval, cost, legal exposure, and long-term support.

Without that translation, the organization could not make a defensible decision.

Intervention

Technical concepts were translated into operating language for leadership, finance, legal, IT, and program stakeholders. The goal was not to promote blockchain. The goal was to make risks, responsibilities, and decisions legible before execution.

Output

Governance procedures supported multiple six-figure irreversible transactions and seven-figure digital asset exposure. The work reduced exposure to unnecessary transaction costs and platform risk by reframing technical recommendations around long-term operating consequences.

Finance, leadership, legal, IT, and operations had clearer language for what was being approved, who held responsibility, and how custody would be maintained after execution.

What It Shows

New technology becomes usable when risk, ownership, and process are translated into operating practice. The governance layer is not paperwork after the fact; it is what makes execution possible.
